Jameson and I were able to explore 2 of the 7 Wonders of Oregon! I am so excited to cross these places off my list ↓
First we drove to the Painted Hills, located in Mitchell, Oregon. A day trip from Portland can definitely be done. However, if you want to make it an overnighter, Mitchell is a super small town and I would recommend driving to Bend for the night. (((And do Smith Rock in the morning ;))) The Painted Hills isn’t really known for hiking, and just has a few short trails.

The boardwalk and beautiful painted hills.
Smith Rock was seriously amazing! We arrived at 10:30 am and it was 60 degrees with blue skies. Awesome weather all day. We decided to do the Misery Ridge Loop (3.8 miles) and the views were just non stop.

When it looks like this from the start, you know it’s gonna be good ^^^

At the very top! ^^^

Continued on the trail to the other side of the ridge…Monkey face!! ^^^ Two people were rock climbing up the side of it. So cool. I wish I were that cool.

But I’m not.
After you come down from the rocks, it’s about a mile along the river finishing the loop. I’m telling you the views are impressive no matter where you are at in Smith Rock State Park. Exploring Central Oregon has been fun!
